Last week I had the extreme honour of debuting my collection at the West Coast Cooler Fashion Week in Belfast. From the first year that I started blogging, I attended Fashion Week and dreamt of one day showing my own collection on the catwalk, in fact, it was the Designer Show that inspired me to return to college to study fashion & textiles.
Although it was one of my life goals, I never, in a million years imagined it coming true – so to see my designs strutting down the catwalk was one of the best feelings in the world.
I had some of the top models in Northern Ireland wearing my collection, from the current Miss Ireland, Sacha Livingstone to previous Miss Irelands and beauty queens, it was amazing to see such beautiful girls doing my designs such justice.
I showcased a combination of two collections, the first being “Conflict in Colour”. The prints that I designed for this collection feature images from the conflict in Northern Ireland and the aim of the collection was to show how something beautiful can some from something so awful.
The second collection was “Jewelled Safari”, a series of print designs based on many different species of wildlife and brought together with some stunning jewelled tones. I chose to combine items from bother collections as the show was aimed at Autumn/Winter and I felt that they all worked well together and fitted with the season.
I would like to say a huge thank you to Cathy Martin and her team at CMPR for asking me to be a part of such an amazing show and to Rodney Simpson for providing me with these beautiful photographs.
I hope you like my work and if you have any enquiries do not hesitate to contact me on Facebook – www.facebook.com/thesequincinderella
There are lots of exciting things to come with my collection so keep your eyes peeled!
