The Peace Bridge

In 2011 a bridge nicknamed “The Peace Bridge” was built in Derry/Londonderry. This was to symbolise the joining of two communities and a continuous hope for peace in a city that was once rocked by the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Setting aside the politics associated with this historical piece of architecture, it is one of the most spectacular constructions I have laid eyes on and a beautiful setting for a walk across the water.
By day the bridge itself and the lapping water below are breathtaking enough, but by night, the bridge comes alive with an array of coloured lights and the stunning City Skyline gracing the background.
The photos I have chosen to share with you are from a dark winters evening stroll along the bridge with a quick stop at some deserted buildings which drew my attention along the way.
Although taken on my old camera and a bit unclear, I love the grunge effect of the lighting in this photo shoot. I hope you enjoy and that someday you will get a chance to see this amazing bridge for yourselves.
