I am very excited to tell you that next Thursday, the 28th of March I will be hosting “Hatwalk 2013” in aid of Brain Tumour research.
This amazing event will take place in the Hasting Everglades hotel, Derry/Londonderry, in celebration of “Wear a Hat” day which raises both awareness and necessary funds for a very worthy cause.
Some of the top milliners from all over Ireland and Northern Ireland will be gracing the catwalk with their latest creations
Even the audience have an added incentive to wear a little head gear of their own as on the night there will be a coveted prize of “Best Dressed Guest”.
The fabulous lineup of elite milliners includes John-Paul and Katrina Gormley, hailing from the City of Culture itself, Award Winning Belfast Milliner Grainne Maher, and Jennifer Wrynne, Leonora Ferguson and Mariana Reilly who are fast becoming the top names in Irish millinery design.
Patron of the charity and Milliner extraordinaire, Mister Philip Treacy who has designed for the likes of Lady Gaga and Sarah Jessica Parker, has kindly donated a beautiful hat to be auctioned off on the night. I for one am so looking forward to seeing this creation and will have to be handcuffed in order to restrain myself from a bidding war in the auction.
The “piece de la resistance”on the night will be the finale of the designer competition which has been running over the last number of weeks. Young designers had the opportunity to create a unique piece of headwear and I will be lucky enough to announce the winner on the night!
I absolutely love to wear hats or headpieces myself, as you can see from the pics above and below where I have chosen two of my favourites to date. As of yet I have not decided on a hat for the event but I cannot wait to try on some stunning designs before I make the final choice.
It is such an honour to have been asked to compere this spectacular evening and I am proud to be involved in a show which will not only take the fashion world by storm but will make an incredible difference to a truly deserving charity. A huge thank you to Roy McCabe C/O John Paul Couture for asking me to be a part of this special evening.
Tickets for the Hatwalk 2013 are now on sale at www.hatwalk.com and from John Paul Millinery, Derry/Londonderry. Priced at just £8 for standard seats or a mere £15 for the VIP treatment where you will receive a drink on arrival, premium seating and a little goody bag to top it all off.
If you do make it to the show please do come say hi!
