BT Chairman’s Awards

P1020734

Last weekend my Boyfriend and I travelled to London to attend the BT Chairman’s awards for which he was a finalist.
It was a very exciting trip as not only was it a huge achievement for him to be chosen as a finalist but the award ceremony was taking place in the BT Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Europe.
On arrival we were given the opportunity to mingle with the other finalists and BT Executives over morning coffee and were then shown into the auditorium for the awards ceremony to begin.
There were ten categories in total and for each we watched a short video describing why the finalists had been chosen and outlining the amazing work they had done! Every one of them was very heart felt and incredibly emotional featuring interviews from the people who had been helped by the voluntary work of each of the finalists. The comedy moment of the afternoon came when they got to my Boyfriends video. He had been chosen for his volunteer work teaching the elderly how to use computers and the internet and when it flicked to one of the ladies he had been helping, rather than talking about his teaching skills, she commented on his good looks! Needless to say I was beaming with pride, if not a little concerned about my new competition! 🙂
I am delighted to say that he came second in his category, an excellent achievement considering he was the youngest finalist and the only one from Northern Ireland!
For the event the dress code was business wear… so as fashion is my business and I never quite follow the rules, I decided against the perceived image of a black business suit and went for a colourful summer dress instead. I matched it with tiger print wedges from Zara and I had a giggle when a top exec from BT commented that if there was an award for best shoes I would have won!
Unfortunately I just had the use of a small camera and an Iphone on the day so the image quality might not be perfect but you will get the chance to share in what was an absolutely amazing afternoon.
I would like to say a huge congrats to my Boyfriend on his incredible achievement and thank you to all at BT for a fantastic weekend!
