As most of you may know, this year I have gone back to college to study Fashion and Textiles.
I absolutely love my course and I’m in my element when I am creating my own unique designs.
This tartan skirt is the first piece that I designed and finished myself and I am so proud of it.
Tartan has been such a huge trend for the last few seasons and I just love the idea of combining it with leather. To me, it gives it even more of a rock and roll edge.
I decided to make the waistband of the skirt almost like a corset, drawing your eye to the lace up back and making it one of the main features of the design.
I didn’t exactly set myself an easy challenge for a first attempt at dress-making by picking such a patterned fabric but I was really pleased at how I managed to match it up and present it!
I thought the vibe of the skirt screamed “Biker Chick” so what better way to photograph it than on a top of the range Yamaha R1 motorbike! Definitely the way to get a serious adrenaline rush whilst showing off the skirt in the best possible way.
I hope you love my first design and you can look forward to many more to come! Who knows, you may even be purchasing one of my unique creations some time in the very near future!
