On Saturday past I attended the Belfast Fashion Week A/W’13 Local Designer’s show at the Ulster Museum.
As always the talent and fashion on display was totally awe inspiring. It is so refreshing to see such creativity right on our doorstep.
I travelled to Belfast with some of my friends from my Fashion course and when we arrived at the Museum we were greeted, as ever, with a refreshing West Coast Cooler, who are the main sponsors of the event but I, being the designated driver chose the non-alcoholic option from fellow sponsors Diet Coke.
I had the chance to catch up with some friends before taking my seat to watch the show.
The talent from the established designers was, of course stunning as always but the show finale came in the shape of unique creations from secondary students who had entered the “Junk Kouture” competition for which they made outfits from recycled materials. If these guys are the future generation of Irish fashion then it is indeed very exciting.
For the show I decided to wear an oversized shirt from “All Saints” with a pair of quilted leather shorts from Topshop. I kept the accessories to a minimum with a Chanel Jumbo Flap handbag and my spiked Jeffrey Campbell “Lita” boots.
For the show, I had my makeup applied by the talented Lisa Dillon of the
MakeUp Studio by Lisa. Lisa was hot off the plane from doing make up at London Fashion Week and this talented lady gave me a fresh and funky look for the night!
Unfortunately I only got to attend one show of Belfast Fashion Week this season but I look forward to the next which will be its tenth birthday and it set to be bigger and better than ever!
